About JacquArte design

JacquArte design was founded in 2004. After graduating from Art school in the 1970s, I decided to put my creative talents to computer design work. In recent years this has led to commercial website design and programming.

I decided to set up this service due to the growing need for smaller organisations, or individuals, to have a presence on the world-wide-web. The aim being to provide the same level of service for those with modest needs, as to large companies who require more sophisticated websites.

With backgrounds in information technology, programming, visual arts and communications - we have a blend of skills ideally suited to meeting your needs.

Our design philosophy is best expressed by the following quotes -

..."I wrote my first website from scratch using a simple text-editing program and my HTML knowledge. I found the popular web-authoring tools to be somewhat limiting and were prone to overcomplication, resulting in increased page loading times."

..."A well balanced layout and intelligent use of graphics are as important on the web as in any glossy magazine. Careful selection allows the page to load rapidly enough to prevent customers from surfing off elsewhere."

..."The idea is to attract people to your site, not to drive them away with noisy, flashy, highly coloured gimmicks. But if that's what you really want... no problem!."

We have produced websites for a variety of businesses, also for much smaller projects such as eBay listing designs. Please look at our portfolio for some examples.

Joseph Marie Jacquard (or Jacquart) was the inventor of a revolutionary weaving loom in the early 19th century which worked from punch cards like these.

It was one of the first ever 'programmed' machines and is said to have given Charles Babbage the idea for his first calculating engine, or computer.

Today on the internet, we weave a different kind of web which still uses programming to produce beautiful designs.
